Abstract:

A wheel-position specifying device that is installed in a vehicle that has a rotational-position detection unit that detects the respective rotational positions of a plurality of wheels. The wheel-position specifying device is provided with transmitters that are respectively provided to the plurality of wheels and with a receiver that is provided to the body of the vehicle. The transmitters have: a transmission unit that is configured so as to transmit a position-detection signal to the receiver; and a control unit that is configured so as to make the transmission unit continue transmitting the position-detection signal throughout or beyond a prescribed transmission time period. The receiver has: a reception unit that is configured so as to receive position-detection signals; a measurement unit that is configured so as to measure the reception strength of received position-detection signals; and a wheel-position specifying unit. For each position-detection signal received during one rotation of the wheels, the wheel-position specifying unit is configured so as to detect, multiple times, the rotational position of the wheel to which the corresponding transmitter is provided when reception strength is at an extreme value and to specify the position of the wheel from the deviation in the rotational positions of the wheel when reception strength is at an extreme value.
