Abstract:
Provided is an elevator whereby the dimension thereof in the direction of a winding machine shaft can be made small. An elevator having: a housing 2 fixed to a machine base 7; a main shaft 3, one end of which is supported by the housing 2 via a bearing; a sheave 4 around which a main rope 8 is wound, the sheave 4 being attached to the main shaft 3; and a pedestal 5 for supporting the other end of the main shaft 3 via another bearing, the pedestal 5 being fixed to the machine base 7; wherein the elevator is configured so that the width dimension W1 of the pedestal 5 is smaller than the outside diameter W2 of the sheave 4, and an arm part 14 of the pedestal 5 is disposed between the machine base 7 and a groove part of the sheave 4 in which the main rope 8 is wound.
