Abstract:
The wiper drive device includes: a drive unit for causing a wiper blade to perform a wiping operation so as to wipe clean an area of a windshield including an area subject to capture which is within the field of view of a camera for capturing, through the windshield, a prescribed capture range around the vehicle; and a stopping unit for causing the wiper blade to stop in an area of the windshield other than the area subject to capture, in the event that an abnormality disruptive of the wiping operation occurs while the drive unit is driving the wiper blade to perform the windshield wiping operation.
