This wireless communication device is in a wireless mesh network and comprises: a reception circuit that receives a wireless signal; and a control circuit that determines a candidate wireless unit that is not selected as the transmission destination of the received wireless signal, such determination made on the basis of the destination information of the received wireless signal and information related to a group to which another candidate wireless unit that is capable of communication belongs.
