The purpose of the present invention is to produce a woody synthetic powder which enables the production of a molded article that has excellent weather resistance and that does not undergo deformation such as warpage and strain or undergoes a reduced degree of possible such deformation and therefore can have excellent mechanical strength. The woody synthetic powder is a pellet for use in the production of a woody molded article by extrusion molding, and comprises: 30 to 70 wt% of a thermoplastic resin that comprises polypropylene, or polypropylene and polyethylene, or polyvinyl chloride; 70 to 30 wt% of a wood powder that has an average fiber length of 80 to 250 μm, contains fibers having the shortest fiber length of 60 μm or less in an amount of 30 wt% or less and fibers having the shortest fiber length of 30 μm or less in an amount of 25 wt% or less, and has a bulk density of 0.14 to 0.22 g/cm3; and an additive.
