Abstract:
This workpiece diameter measurement method includes: a step for measuring coordinates of point P at which, on the outer circumference of a cylindrical workpiece supported such that the turning axis and the center axis of the main shaft of a machine tool match with each other, coordinates in a first direction orthogonal to the turning axis become a local maximum or a local minimum; a step for calculating distance D2, in the first direction, between point P and reference point Q at which distance D1 from the turning axis in the first direction is already known; and a step for calculating the workpiece diameter of the cylindrical workpiece from distance D1 and distance D2.
