TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a wrist watch and an arrangement. In particularly the invention relates to a wrist watch with Screensaver functionality for showing a data content.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many people have always been and still are keened to carry and show different quotes or phrases somehow important to them. One example of this is to have tattoo representing or indicating the quote or phrase. Alternatively the quotes or phrases can be pressed or otherwise added to clothes, such as to a shirt, for example.

There are however some disadvantages relating to these solutions. For example tattoos have their own medical risks and in addition they are often permanent and last forever. Moreover there is often an age limit to get a tattoo. In addition the clothes might be expensive and in addition they do not last forever. In addition the clothes or the cloth having a certain quote or phrase cannot be necessarily carried in all situations.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An object of the invention is to alleviate and eliminate the problems relating to the known solutions. Especially the object of the invention is to provide a system for indicating quotes or phrases important to a user in an easy, fast, inexpensive and safe ways.

The object of the invention can be achieved by the features of independent claims.

The invention relates to a wrist watch according to claim 1. In addition the invention relates to an arrangement according to claim 10. According to an embodiment of the invention a wrist watch for showing data content is provided. The wrist watch comprises advantageously a screensaver device, a display and a memory device for storing the data content to be shown. The data content comprises advantageously letters or other characters. According to an example the data content comprises advantageously at least one or multiple quotes or phrases to be shown, where the quotes or phrases can be for example preloaded famous quotes or phrases, such as "Lost time is never found again (by Benjamin Franklin) or "Be the change you wish to see in the world" (by Mahatma Gandhi). In addition or alternatively the data content can be created by the user wearing the wrist watch or other external parties, whereupon the data content created by other external parties can be downloaded to the wrist watch of the user. By showing the desired data contents, such as famous or desired quotes or phrases the user can customize the wrist watch with whatever message the user or other parties like.

According to an embodiment the created data content can be either stored directly to the memory device of the wrist watch or an external device, such as a mobile phone or other mobile device to which the wrist watch is in data communication. According to an embodiment the data content may be created and/or uploaded and stored online for example to a cloud system, from where the data content can be downloaded to the wrist watch for example via the external mobile device, such as via the mobile phone. Advantageously the wrist watch comprises a short range wireless data communication device for communicating with the external mobile device and thereby also with the cloud system or server via the external mobile device and thereby download the data content.

It is to be noted that the content can be delivered also by other users. For example the other users can load the data content to the cloud system or sent directly to the user's mobile phone or other external device, whereupon the content is delivered to the wrist watch of said user and shown on the display of the wrist watch. According to an embodiment the data content is not even shown in the user's external device, such as the mobile phone, but only on the wrist watch.

The wrist watch comprises advantageously also a control unit. The control unit is configured to control the screensaver to show at least portion of the data content stored or downloaded in the memory device on the display. The control unit may be instructed to control the Screensaver to show the data content in a certain predetermined manner, such as the letter of the quote or phrases one by one letter. As an example the Screensaver can be controlled to show the data content by popping one by one letter per a predetermined time limit on the display, such as one letter per a second.

According to an embodiment the data content may also comprise a quote or message, like an art image. In addition the control unit may control the screensaver to show the quote or message, such as the art image, permanently on the display. In addition the wrist watch may comprise a user input device for recognizing user input for controlling the data content showing on the display. The user input device may have different kinds of user input measurement devices, such as a gesture recognition device, acceleration measurement device or a press button. The control unit may control the screensaver device to change the data content on the display based on the recognized user input, such as gestures of the user. For example if the user swipes or shakes the wrist watch the control unit may control the screensaver device to erase the content from the display or show next data content on the display.

In addition, depending on an application the user input device may take different forms, and may be implemented e.g. by a pulse meter for measuring pulse or activity or usage of the device, a GPS device for measuring a distance travelled or location, for example, an altitude gauge for measuring different altitudes reached or accelerometer for determining usage of the device or activity of the user, such as movements or even amplitude of the movements. Depending on the application the control unit may control the screensaver to show the data content, for example popping up letter one by one in a manner indicating the measured pulse, activity, usage or measured distance travelled by the user. For example the higher the pulse or higher the activity, faster the letters are popped up on the display.

In more details the user input device generates signals, where the signals are response of the user input or measured activity or usage of the user wearable device or other measured parameter. The control unit is in a data communication with the user input device. The control unit then controls the screensaver device to show the content based on the signals generated by the user input device so that more the activities or usage or the like is measured the more letter of the data content are shown on the display, for example.

The wrist watch comprises advantageously a communication device, such as a Bluetooth communication device to be in a data communication with an application running on an external device, such as on the mobile phone. The external device comprises advantageously an external device communication device, such as a mobile telecommunication systems, for example 4G or the like known by the skilled person, via which the external device can communicate with a main system of the arrangement. The main system may be a cloud baser server system having a memory device for storing and managing the data contents. The main system as well as the external devices, such as the mobile phones may have an application via which the users can upload their data contents, such as quotes or phrases, to the main system, from where the data content can be then downloaded to the wrist watches registered to or being in a data communication with the system. The data content can be downloaded for example once when triggered by the user or continuously at certain intervals. The user can also browse through all the quotes and messages that other people have submitted to the system for example by manipulating user input device or just letting time lapse. Naturally also other methods can be applied.

The present invention offers advantages such as the possibility to carry and show different quotes or phrases without any physical or medical risks and in addition inexpensive and easy way. The exemplary embodiments presented in this text are not to be interpreted to pose limitations to the applicability of the appended claims. The verb "to comprise" is used in this text as an open limitation that does not exclude the existence of also unrecited features. The features recited in depending claims are mutually freely combinable unless otherwise explicitly stated. The novel features which are considered as characteristic of the invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its construction and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following description of specific example embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawings. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Figure 1 illustrates a principle of an exemplary arrangement 100 for providing data content to be shown in a wrist watch 101. The arrangement 100 may comprise a main system 1 10, which is advantageously implemented by a cloud based server system 1 10. The main system comprises advantageously a platform device 1 1 1 for receiving data content from the users, memory storage 1 12 for storing the data contents and a controlling system 1 13 for managing the data content. The platform device 1 1 1 is advantageously a web browser page or an application via which the users can upload their data contents, such as quotes and phrases to the system. In addition the main system comprises a main data communication device 1 14 for providing a data communication with the wrist watch 101 advantageously via an external mobile device 102, such as via a mobile phone.

Also the external device 102, such as the mobile phone comprises advantageously an application 1 1 1 via which the user can upload their data contents, such as quotes or phrases, to the main system 1 10, from where the data content can be then downloaded to wrist watches 101 registered to the system or otherwise being in a data communication with the system. The data content can also be downloaded via the application run on the external device 102. The external device 102 comprises advantageously a wireless mobile communication device 1 15 for communicating with the main system 1 10, such as a mobile telecommunication system like 4G or the like. In addition the external device 102 comprises also a short range wireless communication device 1 16, such as an infrared or a Bluetooth communication device to establish a data communication link with the wrist watch 101.

The wrist watch 101 comprises a Screensaver device 105 and a display 108, as well as and a memory device 103 for storing the data content comprising advantageously letters or other characters. Advantageously the wrist watch 101 comprises also a data communication device 106 for communicating with the external device 102, and again communicating with the main system 1 10 via the external device 102 and thereby download the data content. The data communication device 106 of the wrist watch is advantageously a short range wireless device, such as in infrared or Bluetooth device.

The wrist watch comprises also a control unit 104, which controls the screensaver 105 to show the data content on the display. In addition the wrist watch 101 may comprise a user input device 107 for recognizing user input, whereupon the control unit 104 may control the screensaver device 105 to change the data content on the display based on the recognized user input, such as gestures of the user.

The wrist watch may be configured to deliver a request for the data content to the main system 1 10 via the external device 102, such as the mobile phone. Also the application 11 1 run on the external device 102 may be used for generating the request and/or downloading the data content to the external device 102 and again to the wrist watch 101. The data content can be downloaded for example once when triggered (so request) by the user or continuously at certain intervals. Also other manners can be applied, such a push functionality wherein the controlling system 1 13 can deliver the data content from the data storage 112 to the wrist watch 101 (e.g. via the external device 102) when the data content is provided to the system or certain intervals. It is to be noted that the data content may also comprise control data for controlling the wrist watch 101 to show the content in a manner determined by the control data, such as popping letters one-by-one or the order of letters or time sequence between the popping letters or the like. Figures 2-5 illustrate different wrist watches 101 for showing data content according to advantageous embodiments of the invention. The data content comprises advantageously at least one or multiple quotes or phrases to be shown, where the quotes or phrases can be for example preloaded famous quotes or phrases, such as "Lost time is never found again (by Benjamin Franklin) or "Be the change you wish to see in the world' (by Mahatma Gandhi), as are depicted e.g. in Figures 3-5. In addition or alternatively the data content can be created by the user or other parties and thereby customized the wrist watch with whatever message the user or other parties like, as is depicted e.g. in Figure 4.

As can be seen in Figure 2 the letters can be popped one-by-one for example at a certain time intervals. The quote or phrase can be shown for a predetermined time period or for example as long as the user input device of the wrist watch is manipulated, such as for example a swiping gesture is performed or a press button of the wrist watch is pressed.

The invention has been explained above with reference to the aforementioned embodiments, and several advantages of the invention have been demonstrated. It is clear that the invention is not only restricted to these embodiments, but comprises all possible embodiments within the spirit and scope of the inventive thought and the following patent claims. For example even if the wrist watch 101 and the mobile phone 102 are described as the examples naturally also other devices can be used especially instead of the mobile phone 102, like a tablet computers.
