Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variant carotenoid producing bacteria in which carotenoid productivity has been increased.SOLUTION: A variant carotenoid producing bacteria contains any one of the following genes (a) to (c). (a) a gene encoding a protein containing a mutant type amino acid sequence in which at least the amino acid residue at position 225 is replaced with another amino acid residue in the amino acid sequence of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate synthase in carotenoid producing bacteria. (b) a gene encoding a protein containing a mutant type amino acid sequence in which at least the amino acid residue at position 305 has been substituted with another amino acid residue in the amino acid sequence of decaprenyl diphosphate synthase in carotenoid producing bacteria.
