Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass roll by winding a glass ribbon around a winding core, wherein the glass roll is avoided from either winding deviation or being reduced in a quality.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a glass roll GR by using a conveying device 8 for conveying a glass ribbon G placed horizontally and a winding core 3 around which the glass ribbon G conveyed out from the conveying device 8 is winded, comprises: superposing the glass ribbon G transferred on the winding core 3 from the conveying device 8 on a belt-like protective sheet S1 fed from an upper surface side Ga thereof; and winding the superposed matter with a lower surface side Gb thereof being turned to an inside, wherein a transfer assisting device 10 is provided to be movable between an assisting position for supporting the glass ribbon G from below between the conveying device 8 and the winding core 3 to assist the transferring, and a retreat position apart more from the winding core 3 than the assisting position. The transfer assisting device 10 is positioned in the assisting position during a period until a forefront part Gf of the glass ribbon G is transferred on the winding core 3 from the conveying device 8, and then the transfer assisting device 10 is moved from the assisting position to the retreat position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
