Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of spider silk-like polypeptide fibers having high toughness, by clarifying a production mechanism of natural spider silk in a spider body and a factor of the toughness and by applying the mechanism to the production of artificial fibers, and polypeptide fibers produced by the production method.SOLUTION: A production method of polypeptide fibers derived from spider silk comprises the steps of: (1) preparing a dope liquid by dissolving polypeptide derived from spider silk protein; (2) forming small fibers having granular structures having a high aspect ratio in the dope liquid; (3) constituting nano small fibers by closely orientating the nano granular structures having a higher aspect ratio than the small fibers in a tandem state and forming micro fibers by collecting and bonding the nano small fibers in the fiber axial direction; and (4) isolating the micro fibers to obtain the polypeptide fibers.SELECTED DRAWING: None
