PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic tensioner capable of improving assemblability, and reliably preventing foreign matter from entering.SOLUTION: In an internal space 27 formed by an arm side cup part 21 and a base side cup part 11, a foreign matter prevention member 40 is provided, the foreign matter prevention member capable of contacting with an inner peripheral surface 11a of the base side cup part 11 and an inner peripheral surface 21a of the arm side cut part 21 so as to cover a coil part 30a from a radial outward side, and configured to prevent foreign matter having entered the internal space 27 from entering in a radial direction. In the foreign matter prevention member 40, a stationary part 41 is provided in a state of being held between the arm side cup part 21 or base side cup part 11 and a torsion coil spring 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
