Abstract:
To provide a vehicle control system and a vehicle control method that can properly control a vehicle speed as one of purposes.SOLUTION: A vehicle control system comprises an acquisition part which acquires environment information including a reference speed previously set for a scheduled route where the vehicle thereof is to travel; and a travel control part which performs speed control and steering control over the vehicle thereof based upon the environment information that the acquisition part acquires. The travel control part performs, when the vehicle travels along the scheduled route at the reference speed, the speed control based upon the reference speed as a target speed of the vehicle if a control index value associated with the steering control is equal to an upper-limit value or less, or the speed control based upon a speed at which the control index value is equal to the upper-limit value or less as a target speed of the vehicle if the control index value associated with the steering control exceeds the upper-limit value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
