Abstract:
To smoothly perform continuous fixing processing regardless of a sheet size.SOLUTION: A fixing device 13 of a printer comprises a heating member 20 that heats a toner image formed on a sheet by using a heat source 23. The heat source 23 includes a plurality of heating bodies 31, 32, and 33 that are arranged along a width direction orthogonal to a sheet conveyance direction, and are controlled to heat a larger number of heating bodies 31, 32, and 33 as the width of a sheet on which fixing processing is performed is larger. While performing fixing processing on a small-size sheet by heating the heating body 31 at a position corresponding to the small-size sheet in the width direction, when receiving input of an instruction for fixing processing on a normal-size sheet having a larger width than that of the small-size sheet, the fixing device 13 starts heating the heating bodies 32 and 33 at positions corresponding to the normal-size sheet outside the heating body 31 in the width direction before completion of the fixing processing on the small-size sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
