Abstract:
To appropriately determine the life of a fixing device or the like regardless of the state of wear of a heating member and a pressure member, and a sheet.SOLUTION: A fixing device 13 of a printer 1 comprises: a heating member 20 that heats a toner image formed on a sheet; a pressure member 21 that forms a fixing nip N with the heating member 20 and applies pressure to the sheet passing through the fixing nip N; and a glossiness measuring unit 23 that measures the glossiness of the sheet conveyed to the fixing nip N. A control unit 15 calculates the surface roughness of the sheet on the basis of the relationship in which the surface roughness of the sheet decreases as the glossiness of the sheet increases, and reconfigures so as to decrease a life paper feed number indicating the usage limit of the fixing device 13 as the surface roughness of the sheet increases.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
