Abstract:

To provide a catalyst laminate, a membrane electrode assembly, an electrochemical cell, and a stack which are capable of achieving a laminated structure ensuring strength and substance transport efficiency and are capable of realizing sufficient durability and water electrolysis performance even with a small amount of noble metal.SOLUTION: A catalyst laminate in an embodiment comprises a plurality of catalyst layers containing at least one of a noble metal and an oxide of the noble metal and at least one of a non-noble metal and an oxide of the non-noble metal. The catalyst laminate comprises two or more of a first catalyst layers and two or more of a second catalyst layers. In the atomic composition fraction of the noble metal obtained using line analysis by an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy with respect to the thickness direction of the catalyst laminate, the first catalyst layer is less than the average of the maximum value and the minimum value of the atomic composition fraction of the noble metal, and the second catalyst layer is equal to or larger than the average of the maximum value and the minimum value of the atomic composition fraction of the noble metal. The second catalyst layer lies between the first catalyst layers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
