Abstract:
To provide a liquid discharge device and a control method of a liquid discharge device which can make effective utilization of liquid while avoiding idling discharge of a liquid discharge head.SOLUTION: A printer 10 comprises: a printing head 13 that discharges ink supplied from a plurality of ink storage bodies 16 that store a plurality of kinds of ink respectively through a nozzle 19 so as to perform printing; an ink residual amount sensor that detects residual amounts of ink stored in each of the plurality of ink storage bodies 16; and a control part 25 that changes specifications of flushing, discharging of ink irrelevant to printing to specifications that reduces discharge amounts of ink, stored in one ink storage body 16, whose residual amounts fall below a prescribed end value, at the timing when the residual amounts of ink stored in the one ink storage body 16 of the plurality of ink storage bodies 16 fall below the prescribed end value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
