Abstract:
To provide a cutting insert having high performance in processing chips in both of grooving-processing and transverse feed processing.SOLUTION: A cutting insert 1 comprises: an upper surface 10; a front surface 12 forming a cross ridge-line 11 between the surface and the upper surface 10; side surfaces 14 continuous to the front surface 12, forming cross ridge-lines 13 between the surfaces and the upper surface 10; a front surface cutting blade 20 provided in the cross ridge-line 11 between the upper surface 10 and the front surface 12; and lateral cutting blades 21 provided in the cross ridge-lines 13 between the upper surface 10 and the side surfaces 14. The upper surface 10 has a first upper surface part 30 and wave-shape upper surface parts 50, provided at both sides in a lateral direction X of the first upper surface part 30, in which crest parts and trough parts continue toward a direction in which the parts separate from the front surface cutting blade 20. The wave-shape upper surface parts 50 are configured so that the lateral cutting blades 21 have corrugated shapes continuing from the front surface cutting blade 20 in a side view.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
