Abstract:
To reduce a weight of a cylinder by reducing a thickness of a portion into which a stud bolt is inserted and secure strength of the cylinder with a simple structure at an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes: a crank case supporting a crank shaft; a cylinder 17 fastened to the crank case; and a stud bolt 65 fastening the cylinder 17 to the crank case. The cylinder 17 is provided with: a power transmission member housing chamber 39 in which a power transmission member 35 which transmits rotation of the crank shaft to a cam shaft is disposed; and a stud bolt hole part 61 through which the stud bolt 65 is inserted. The power transmission member housing chamber 39 is provided with a communication part 70 which allows the stud bolt hole part 61 to communicate with the power transmission member housing chamber 39.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
