Abstract:
To provide a glow plug capable of suppressing deterioration in heating performance, and a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: A glow plug comprises: a metal center pole; a heating element that is electrically connected to the tip of the center pole; a metal tube that houses the heating element and the tip side of the center pole, and has a closed tip to which the heating element is electrically connected; a sealing material interposed between the tube and the center pole; and insulating powder filled in the tube that is sealed between itself and the center pole by the sealing material. The insulating powder contains fused magnesia powder as a main component. Given that the average particle size of the fused magnesia powder is x (μm) and the specific surface area of the fused magnesia powder is y (m2/g), y<-0.002x+0.26 is satisfied when 60≤x≤93.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
