Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that can detect the remaining amount of developer by using a capacitance detection method without providing an AC power supply dedicated to toner remaining amount detection, and does not require a circuit for adjusting the voltage of the AC power supply for toner remaining amount detection.SOLUTION: An AC voltage generation circuit (155) that switches a DC voltage and generates an AC voltage at the other end of primary wiring is provided on a primary wiring (152) side of a transformer (151), and a rectifying and smoothing circuit (158) is provided on a secondary wiring (153) side. Output from the rectifying and smoothing circuit (158) is used for image formation. A toner container (43) is arranged with a first electrode (E1) and a second electrode (E2), and a control unit (100) obtains the capacitance (C0) between both electrodes from a signal input from the second electrode (E2) and detects the amount of toner remaining in the toner container (43).
