Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and properly re-output additional explanation information downloaded from a Web site accompanying dictionary retrieval even in an electronic equipment such as a portable terminal. SOLUTION: According to dictionary retrieval by an electronic dictionary 10, when the downloading request of its additional explanation information is transmitted to a Web server 30 via a personal computer (PC) 20, corresponding explanation information stored in the Web server 30 is read, downloaded and retained in a hard disk 22A, and it is also downloaded to the dictionary 10 and in addition, displayed and reproduced and outputted. Then, only its schematic information is extracted and retained in the schematic information memory of the dictionary 10. When the dictionary retrieval of the same retrieval word is performed by the dictionary 10, its explanation information is read from the schematic information memory to be re-displayed easily and corresponding detailed information can also be read from the hard disk 22A of the PC 20 to be re-displayed easily.
