To reduce power consumption accompanying wireless data communication.
The wireless terminal comprises a data communication unit, capable of communicating data to a connection pointing device over wireless, and a control unit. The control unit can selectively carry out the normal mode of supplying power to the data communication unit, to allow data to be communicated between the data communication unit and the connection pointing device; a power supply suspending mode for suspending power supply to the data communication unit, to disable the data communication between the data communication unit and the connection pointing device; and a power-saving mode for resuming power supply to the data communication unit, before the data communication unit receives a beacon signal transmitted from the connection pointing device at a predetermined interval, and for suspending power supply to the data communication unit, after the data communication unit has performed processing corresponding to the kind of the beacon signal.
