To provide an imaging device and an imaging apparatus advantageously to attain downsizing and simplicity in a configuration wherein a liquid crystal dimmer element is provided in front of an imaging device.

A front side 3602 of a board 36 faces the liquid crystal dimmer element 16 and a rear side 3604 of the board 36 faces the imaging device 18. An imaging device side terminal 1820 for transceiving a signal of an imaging sensor section 1804 is provided to a part of the front side 1803 of a package 1802 of the imaging device 18. An output terminal 3608 for supplying a drive voltage to an input terminal 1612 of the liquid crystal dimmer element 16 is provided to the front side 3602, and a plurality of connection terminals for transmitting a signal of the imaging sensor section 1804 to the imaging device side terminal 1820 are provided to the rear side 3604.
