To provide a solid polymer electrolyte composition capable of reducing cross-over, prevented from the deterioration of a solid polymer electrolyte caused by reaction heat between the fuel and oxygen.
The solid polymer electrolyte compound has a catalyst member composed of a catalyst metal 1122 carried inside a carbon nanotube 1121 of which at least one part is opened, and a matrix 111 composed of a proton conductive solid polymer electrolyte in which the catalyst member is dispersed. One reason of the deterioration of the solid polymer electrolyte is a direct contact of itself with the catalyst metal 1121, and the deterioration is prevented by making the catalyst metal being carried inside the carbon nanotube in order to prevent the catalyst metal 1122 from directly contacting with the solid polymer electrolyte 111. Since the carbon nanotube has a nature excellent in heat conductivity to quickly diffuse the reaction heat, the local temperature increase is prevented, and has a nature hard to be thermally decomposed owing to its high thermal stability.
