To provide an electric wire damage detector capable of easily recognizing the presence of damage on an electric line by continuously monitoring thunderbolt which damages the electric line.
Hall elements 14, 16 supply an output to a judging means 18 on the basis of a current flowing an electric line 24. The judging means 18 judges whether the output is caused by a thunder current or not, and supplies its DC component to a damage detecting means 20 in case of thunder current. The damage detecting means 20 judges whether the thunderbolt is such a long wave tail lightning that damages the electric line 24 or not on the basis of the DC component from the judging means 18, and detects that the electric line 24 has been damaged in case of a long wave tail lightning.
