Abstract:

To industrially easily provide a high-purity spherical silica ball at a low cost, which is useful for applications such as a grinding medium, a catalyst support and a separating agent and has an average particle size of 0.3-10 mm, a specific surface area of 0.1-10 m2/g and a purity of ≥99.95%.

A high-purity hydrous silica gel, prepared by using sodium silicate as a raw material, is subjected to acid cleaning to obtain a high-purity hydrous silica gel having a specific surface area of 400-800 m2/g. The high-purity hydrous silica gel is granulated through an agitation-granulation method and fired to obtain the high-purity spherical silica ball having an average particle size of 0.3-10 mm, a specific surface area of 0.1-10 m2/g and a purity of ≥99.95%.
