To provide an image photographing apparatus capable of optionally specifying a size of a small picture and a total number of the small pictures sequentially reproduced.

An image processing circuit 2 reduces an image signal from an imaging means 1 into a desired size of the small picture (the number of horizontal and longitudinal pixels) and an image memory 3 captures the reduced pictures sequentially. The image memory 3 produces one image data from the image signals sequentially photographed. A control microcomputer 4 instructs the image processing circuit 2 on the size (the number of horizontal and longitudinal pixels) of the small picture or the like to generate management information including the size information of the small picture or the like. That is, the control microcomputer 4 acts like a management information forming means to generate management information provided to a header part of an image file. Then a memory card 7 records the management information and the image signal formed in the image memory 3.
