Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antifouling coating composition excellent in storage stability and capable of forming from the coating material itself a dry coating film having the proper degree of a film-consuming rate from the early stage of underwater immersion, sustaining hydrolyzability for a long period of time and capable of continuously exhibiting an excellent antifouling performance to attached organisms to a ship, an underwater structure or the like for a long term. SOLUTION: This antifouling coating composition comprises the following ingredients: (a) a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid hydroxy metal salt component unit-containing monomer and/or a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt component unit-containing monomer not containing hydroxy group combined with the metal atom and/or a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid silyl ester component unit-containing copolymer and a copolymer from any other unsaturated monomer capable of copolymerizing these monomers; (b) a copper-based composite powder prepared by coating the surface of copper powder and/or an inorganic copper compound with a particulate and/or layered copper oxide; and (c) an organic antifouling agent.
