In an item-based system (# 300), images are teated as core platform objects and exist in an "image schema" (# 346) that provides an extensible representation of an image in the system including the characteristics of the image and it's relationship to other items in the system. The Image Schema defines the properties, behaviors, and relationships for images in the system. The schema also enforces rules about images.
