Abstract:

To manufacture, in an excellent productivity, an Nb3Al compound superconductive wire rod containing an additive element which is effective for improving a high magnetic field properties.

A wire rod is formed by winding an Nb sheet and an Al sheet into a jelly roll shape and then undergoes rapid heating/quenching treatments and undergoes a heat treatment again to produce an Nb3Al compound superconductive wire rod. Before the Nb sheet is wound into the jelly roll shape, one layer of a metallic thin membrane layer composed of a Ti layer or a Ta layer, or an Nb layer are pinched to form a plurality of laminated layers.
