To provide an occupant attitude estimation device that improves accuracy of estimating the attitude of an occupant in a cabin in a simple configuration.
In the occupant attitude estimation device, a joint model formed of the feature points of the upper body part, hand, elbow and shoulder of the occupant is prepared (S105). The occupant in the cabin is extracted from an image acquired by a cabin camera 10, the feature point of the hand of the occupant is detected from the extracted image, and the feature point position of the hand of the joint model is set from the position of the detected feature point of the hand (S110). Similarly, the positions of the feature points of the elbow and shoulder of the joint model are set (S115, S120). Also, a seatbelt area overlapping the occupant is detected from the image acquired by the cabin camera 10 (S125), pixel value change of the detected area is detected, the position of an arm in the seatbelt area when the arm of the occupant overlaps the seatbelt area is detected on the basis of the detected pixel value change, and the feature point positions of the hand, the elbow and the shoulder are corrected so that the feature point positions of the hand, elbow and shoulder are aligned with the position of the arm.
