To restrain the life of a storage battery from shortening by charge and also to dispense with a special charger, in a DC power source which is composed of a rectifier unit which converts AC power into DC power and a storage battery.
A DC power source 1 includes a rectifier unit 2 which receives input from a commercial system power source 100 and outputs a DC power, and a storage battery 3 which is connected in series to the outside side. Moreover, it includes an output voltage detecting circuit 5 which detects a DC voltage outputted from the rectifier unit 2, a charge current detecting circuit 4 which detects a charge current flowing from the rectifier unit 2 to the storage battery 3, an output voltage controller 23 which controls the output voltage into a constant voltage, and a charge current controller 24 which controls the output current of the rectifier unit 2 into a constant current. Then, when letting a current in specified magnitude flow to charge the storage battery 3, it pauses the constant voltage braking action by the output voltage controller 23, and the charge current controller 24 performs constant current charge to the storage battery.
