To provide a flywheel emergency shutdown device which can safely shut down a flywheel at emergency without imparting a mechanical stress, and to provide a flywheel power storage device equipped with this device.
The flywheel emergency shutdown device 4 includes a reservoir tank 4a for reserving cooling water W for consuming power stored in the flywheel power storage device 1, a load switching relay 4b for switching a supply destination of the power stored in the flywheel power storage device into any one of the cooling water W in the reservoir tank 4a and a system load, and a controller 4c for controlling the flywheel power storage device 1 to output the stored power and controlling the load switch relay 4b to switch the supply destination of the power from the flywheel power storage device 1 into the cooling water W in the reservoir tank 4a when shutting down the flywheel at emergency 1a.
