PURPOSE: To achieve the reduction in the rate of error generation by switching the frequency response of the synchronizing circuit at the forward running and backward running of magnetic tape medium.
CONSTITUTION: A switch S1 is closed by the forward FWD instruction from a magnetic tape control unit CONT and a switch S2 is likewise closed by receiving the backward BKW instruction. The switches S1, S2 are constituted by electronic circuits of transistors, FETs or other and the value of a resistance R1 is changed by the reisitances R2, R3 inserted parallel thereto and the ON-OFF of the switches S1, S2 series connected respectively thereto. Thereby the optimum frequency response conditions are set according to the running direction of the magnetic tape and therefore the rate of generation of errors may be reduced.
