Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system having improved detection accuracy of battery capacity of a storage battery.SOLUTION: A storage battery control system for a railway vehicle having a chargeable/dischargeable storage battery and a power converter calculates a charged or discharged amount based on a discharged amount from the storage battery during power running or a charged amount to the storage battery during braking. The open terminal voltage of the battery is determined during a non-charge and non-discharge period such as a coasting period or a stopping period after elapse of a predetermined relaxation time period. The capacity of the battery is calculated based on the charged and discharged amounts and a change in charge rate before and after the charge and discharge of the storage battery. Occasions of calculating the battery capacity are thus increased to improve the accuracy.
