Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device of a simple structure capable of absorbing impact at the time of a secondary collision even in a fastening release state regardless of the fastening state.SOLUTION: The steering device 1 comprises a fastening mechanism for fastening and holding an upper jacket 15 by a lower jacket 16. The first tooth member 60 on the upper jacket 15 side and the second tooth member 70 on the lower jacket 16 side are engaged with each other in the fastened state of the fastening mechanism. The second tooth member 70 is connected with the lower jacket 16 by a breakable guide shaft 81 (coupling member) at the time of a secondary collision. The second engaging portion 222 (driving member) which integrally moves in the column axial direction X with the upper jacket 15 abuts on the second tooth member 70 in the disengaged state in the secondary collision in the fastening release state of the fastening mechanism and breaks the guide shaft 81 to deform the impact absorbing member 40 via the second tooth member 70 to absorb the impact.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 16
