Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath heater in which a filamentous electric heater is covered with a sheath member of aluminum or its alloy through an insulator, and which is superior in high-temperature strength and is capable of suppressing worsening of an insulating property in a high-temperature region, specifically a high-temperature region of 345°C or higher in the case of using the sheath heater at a high temperature.SOLUTION: A sheath heater of the present invention is one in which a filamentous electric heater is covered with a sheath member through an insulator. The sheath member is of aluminum alloy containing at least Mg and Si elements with a Zn content of less than 0.15 mass%. As to a mole ratio of Mg and Si metal elements, Si is 1 or more when Mg is 2. In the sheath member so arranged, the insulator contains magnesium oxide, and further contains a silicone compound. The sheath heater is superior in high-temperature strength, and it has a stable insulating property.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
