Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing an optical film using a solution casting film formation technique, the method comprising a casting step and a peeling step. In the casting step, a dope, which contains a solvent and any one resin among a cycloolefin resin, a polyimide resin, and a polyarylate resin, is cast on a support (3) and dried to form a cast film (5). In the peeling step, the cast film (5) is peeled off from the support (3). In the casting step, a mixed solvent of a good solvent and a poor solvent is sprayed on a widthwise end of the cast film (5) from a position no further than 5 m upstream from a peeling position (P) in a widthwise central portion of the cast film (5). The content of the poor solvent in the mixed solvent is 16 mass% or less.
