Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having excellent coating film properties, giving an easily and rapidly driable coating film and suitable as a coating material, by dispersing partially neutralized ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer in a volatile organic solvent in solid state. CONSTITUTION:An ionomer composed of (A) ethylene and (B) an unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g. acrylic acid) and having a metal salt content of 0.1-1.5(mol)% (preferably 0.3-1%) is dispersed in an organic solvent (e.g. benzene, toluene, etc.) in solid state at a concentration of 5-70wt%. The ionomer can be produced by using a copolymer of A and B having a B content of 0.5-7% (preferably 1-5%), a melt flow rate of 10-100 and a (weight- average molecular weight)/(number-average molecular weight) ratio of 10-20 as a starting polymer and partially neutralizing the unsaturated carboxylic acid of the component B to a metallic salt.
