932,856. Hand actuating devices for switches ; indicators for switches. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 21, 1960 [Dec. 24, 1959], No. 43901/60. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXIX] In a telephone handset (see Group XXXIX), two rows of longitudinally extending number selecting push-buttons 8 are included between the microphone 5 and receiver 6 (Figs. 1 and 2). The push-buttons (Fig. 3) consist of transparent caps 10 beneath which are identification plates 13, the caps being a push fit on rectangularly shaped metallic sleeves 9. The sleeves are guided by walls 20 of the holder 1, upper extensions 21 of these walls ensuring that only one button at a time can be depressed by any one finger. A plate 15 of insulating material is attached at one end to a sleeve 9 and at the other end to an operating rod 16 of a corresponding switch (not shown). A ring back button 25 and a cradle switch button 27, both of which may be constructed in the same manner as the buttons 8 are also included in the holder 1, button 27 operating when the handset is placed face downwards on a horizontal surface or when it is placed in a suitable wall holder.
