Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4934528
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,155,808. Automatic slack adjusters. SVENSKA A.B. BROMSREGULATOR. 2 April, 1968, No. 15897/68. Heading F2E. Brake rigging for a rail vehicle wheel having live and dead shoes includes an automatic, two way, nut and screw slack adjuster connected between the live and dead levers. The screwed rod 11 is pivoted at 10 to the dead brake lever and urged forward by compressed air in chamber 12 acting on piston 13. A sleeve 24 slidable on the rod 11 is connected by bars 22, 23 to the top of the live lever and the brake-operating piston-rod 3, so that when the linkage is slack a spring-loaded washer 27 in the sleeve 24 will engage the forward thrust race on the nut 14 forcing it to rotate backwards until it engages the " clutch " face b. If the linkage is tight, the dead brake lever will first move the rod back against the air pressure in chamber 13 allowing spring 20 bearing on the rear thrust race which forces the nut to rotate forwards. In normal adjustment the sleeve 24 and the rod move back together so that washer 27 bears on the forward thrust and prevents movement of the nut.
