1477223 Electrode stacks for, e.g. alkali batteries MAXS AG 16 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973 40268/74 Heading H1B An electrode stack for, e.g. Ni-Cd alkali batteries is made by placing individual electrodes f in the folds of a zig-zag separator strip a carrying a conductive strip b, c on each side and tamping into a protective perforated plastics sleeve g. The conductive strips may be connected to the strip a by spot welding, hot pressing, bonding or sewing and may be in the form of grids, fabrics, perforated metal foils or conductive plastics, or be electroformed and have fine perforations in the area of the electrodes. The conductive strips extend beyond repective ends of the separator strip and the width and/or thickness may increase towards their extending ends. Figs. 1 and 2 show strips for square and circular electrodes respectively. The aligning guide e may taper towards the sleeve g.
