PURPOSE: To enable good fixation with a heating roller without causing offset phenomenon, by using a developer composed of carriers of a resin-coated iron powder, and a toner containing a specified polyester resin as a binder and besides incorporated with polypropylene.
CONSTITUTION: Carriers consisting of resin-coated iron powder particles, and a toner consisting of polyester resin containing a 5W25wt% component insoluble in chloroform as a binder, and further containing polypropyrene are incorporated to make up a developer. For example, iron powder is immersed in an MEK solution of a styrene-methyl methacrylate, then dried and heat treated to form carriers, and a polyester resin containing 17% component insoluble in chloroform, having 131°C softening point measured by the ring and ball method, carbon black, and low softening-point polypropyrene are mixed to make up a toner of 12μm average particle diameter by the ordinary process. A developer is obtained by mixing said carriers and said toner so as to make up 5wt% toner concn.
