PURPOSE: The titled remedy, containing a saccharide and protein consisting essentially of xylose obtained from a mycelial culture of a fungus belonging to the basidiomycetes, e.g. SHIITAKE mushroom, cultivated in a solid culture medium rich in the xylose component.

CONSTITUTION: A remedy for dermatosis consisting of a saccharide and protein consisting essentially of xylose in a mycelial culture of a fungus belonging to the basidiomycetes, e.g. SHIITAKE mushroom, cultivated in a solid culture medium, e.g. bagasse or rice bran, rich in the xylose component as a main component. The causes of the dermatosis can be roughly divided into diseases due to the immunity disorder and diseases due to viruses or bacteria. The remedy exhibits improved remedial effect on either one thereof. This is considered due to the enhancement of the cellular activity by the administration or application thereof, and the strengthening of the antibody against the antigen, i.e. the enhancement of the immunological activity.
