Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to press a translation key, etc., and to operate a translator easily, by automatically reading and outputting an equivalent to a current specified word when key operation is not performed for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A key input device 12 is connected to the microprocessor 11 of an electronic translator, and the processor 11 applies a key strobe signal KS to the device 12, a key input signal KI from the device 12 is read in to decide a hit key. An address of a memory 13 is specified to read its contents. Further, a lighting and non-lighting pattern corresponding to each dot of a display part 6 is written in a display control part 14 under the control of the processor 11 to display a desired pattern on the display part 6. Couples of English words and equivalents are stored in the memory 13 in alphabetical order and when alphabet keys on the device 12 are operated, input characters are displayed on the display part 6. Then, an equivalent specified when a prescribed time passes after a search key is operated is outputted automatically.
