Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: 1-Aza-butadiene of formula I [where R1, R2 = phenyl, biphenyl, naphthyl, or pyridyl, which are optionally substd. with halogen, NO2, phenyxy, NH2, C1-4 haloalkyl, C1-4 alkyl, or C1-4 alkoxy, at 1-3 positions, or C1-8 alkyl optionally substd. with substd. phenyl according to circumstances; R3 = phenyl substd. according to circumstances, OR4 (where R4=H, C1-6 alkyl, aromatic or aliphatic acyl), NHR5 (where R5=H, phenyl substd. according to circumstances, CONH2)].

USE: A fungicide having remarkable acitivity on wide-ranging spectra belonging to phytopathogenic fungi, particularly hyphomycete and basidiomycete.

PROCESS: A compd. of formula I is obtd. by reacting aldehyde of formula II with a compd. of formula H2N-R3 under the existence of a catalyst and a suitable solvent according to circumstances.
