To obtain a medicine composition having high antiviral activity and low cytotoxicity, useful for treating human immunodeficiency virus infection of patient by making the composition include an effective amount of a specific anti-human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) agent and an effective amount of a specified nucleoside analog having reduced toxicity.
This medicine composition comprises an anti-HIV D-nucleoside compound (preferably 2',3-dideoxycytidine, 2',3'-dideoxyadenosine, 2'-3'- dideoxyinosine, etc.), in an amount effective for inhibition of growth or reproduction of HIV of patient and (-)-(2R, cis)-4-amino-1-(2-hydroxymethyl-1,3- oxathiolan-5-yl)-(1H)-pyrimidin-2-one or its pharmacologically acceptable salt having reduced toxicity to be continuously, simultaneously, separately or integrally administered in an effective amount (preferably 10-1,000 mg).
