Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:2-( 4-Benzyloxyphenyl )-3-acetoxy-5-(2-dimethylaminoethyl)-2, 3- dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-4-(5H)-one of formulaI, an optically active substance or acid addition salt thereof.

USE: Useful as a medicine having the coronary vasodilator action or action on the central nervous system.

PROCESS: 2-( 4-Benzyloxyphenyl )-3-hydroxy-2, 3-dihydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)- one of formula II is reacted with a dimethylaminoethyl halide to give 2-(4-benzyloxyphenyl )-3-hydroxy-5-( 2-dimethylaminoethyl)-2, 3-dihydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one of formula III, which is then acetylated to afford the compound of formulaI.
