Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I, formula II, furmula III, or formula IV [R is H, alkyl, or halogen; one of X is N and the other is C; Z is O, amino nitrogen(NH), or S].
EXAMPLE: 2-Aminopyridine.borane.
USE: Useful as a reagent for reducing a functional group of an organic compound, e.g., aldehyde, ketone, double bond, oxime, etc.
PROCESS: For example, a compound shown by the formula V is reacted with sodium boran hydride in the presence of cabalt chloride(CoCl2.6H2O) or a Lewis acid at room temperature in a solvent of water, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
