Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [Ar is (substituted)aryl; R1WR3 are lower alkyl].
EXAMPLE: 2-Phenyl-3-trimethylsilyl-(Z)-2-propenenitrile.
USE: Intermediate for the synthesis of various compounds and polymers.
PREPARATION: The arylacetylene of formula ArC≡CH (e.g. phenylacetylene) is made to react with the trialkylsilyl cyanide of formula II (e.g. trimethylsilyl cyanide) in the presence of a Pd catalyst (e.g. palladium chloride) usually in an organic solvent such as toluene, preferably at 80W140°C for 3W20hr.
